Picture It: Lunch time, I’m in my kitchen making something to eat and I hear a weird noise. As most people would do, I pause what I’m doing so I can hear better. I don’t hear it anymore. Glancing at the dogs, they don’t seem to be hearing anything unusual, so I must have been imagining things. I go back to what I was doing.
15 minutes later, I hear it again. Ok, I’m not going nuts. I definitely hear something. We live in an old barn that we turned into a house, so mice aren’t out of the question. Wandering through the house, I check all the usual areas for the “tell-tail” signs of mice activity. Still, I see nothing. Ok. What the Hell.
Out of the corner of my eye, I see something move by the window.
This bugger was scratching at my windows. This curious woodchuck had himself propped up against the hot tub to look in. He was just reclining while he waited for an answer to his “knocking”. Three separate times he scratched at the glass and watched inside! It’s like we were his own personal zoo. I posted the photo on my Facebook wall and my Uncle made this meme out of it. It’s hilarious!! I’d also like it on record that neither dog heard this, noticed the woodchuck or responded when they finally did see it. Useless. Both of them.
I went out to investigate what he had going on outside. He built himself a nice little burrow and highway between the house & hot tub and the highway went straight under the porch! Nice digs, man.
Don’t worry. He wasn’t foaming at the mouth. But, he didn’t come in and clean my house as Disney movies would lead you to believe either. How much wood would a woodchuck chuck if he weren’t too busy being a peeping Tom?
What’s your weird animal tail? (See what I did there?)
